Gambar
Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for April 30th, 2019. Continuing my effort to mop up after my absence last week, I’ve got a bunch of reviews of games I played while I was down sick. I also take a quick look at the new releases of today, which are oddly all old games. Finally, we’ve got some tasty sales including a discount on two of the finest SEGA AGES games on Switch. Let’s get to it! Reviews SteamWorld Quest: Hand of Gilgamech ($24.99) It really seems like Image & Form can’t go wrong with its SteamWorld series anymore. The original game, SteamWorld Tower Defense , had trouble finding an audience like many DSiWare games did, but after that it’s been nothing but an all-out sprint for these charming little bots. SteamWorld Dig was an outstanding gem on 3DS that made a nice splash on every platform it migrated to. SteamWorld Heist was a clever and highly enjoyable turn-based strategy game. SteamWorld Dig 2 beat the sophomore curse and ended up...

Clever Puzzle Platformer ‘Magnibox’ Coming to iOS and Android on May 8th

Gambar
You may be familiar with Joseph Gribbin due to his involvement in several excellent Nitrome games over the years, such as Rust Bucket , Hop Swap and Turn Undead 2 , as well as his wholly designed puzzle platformer Spike City which we picked as our Game of the Week when it released and included it in our Best Games of 2018 list . Now Mr. Gribbin is back with another new game called Magnibox . As the name implies, you’ll need to guide your magnet/box hybrid through 160 challenging levels using the power of magnetism, using positive anchor points to pull yourself towards and negative ones to propel yourself away, ultimately getting yourself safely to the level’s end goal. You’ll also have to contend with all manner of hazards and contraptions like conveyor belts, lasers, breakable blocks, and tons more. Check it all out in the trailer for Magnibox below. As you may or may not be aware, Magnibox has actually already launched on Steam just over a month ago, and has garnered a posit...

‘Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap’ Is Coming to iOS and Android next Month and You Can Pre-Register for a 30% Discount Right Now

As with most remakes or reimaginings of old games, the aim is not only to appeal to older fans but also bring new generations of players into games. When Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap was announced for Switch and other consoles, I was intrigued because the remake looked great. It is a remake of the 1989 game Wonder Boy III: The Dragon’s Trap for the Master System. Today, Playdigious, Lizardcube, and Dotemu have announced a mobile port and you can watch the trailer for it below: This port is fully premium and will have no in app purchases. The complete game will be playable on iOS and Android and isn’t some spinoff release as is the case with certain console releases that get mobile adaptations. Playdigious also confirmed that it has full MFi controller support on iOS and Bluetooth support on Android. Dotemu even had a great showcase of the retro mode in this remake. Check it out below: If you’re interested, you can pre-register on Google Play here for a 30% discount when it go...

‘GRID Autosport’ for Android Gets a Multiplayer Beta Test and You Can Sign Up for It Here

Gambar
Feral Interactive’s GRID Autosport ($9.99) is still one of the best looking portable racing games on any platform. When it launched on iOS, it brought true console quality visuals and depth to the platform for racing. It also manages to do everything without resorting to a ton of in app purchases for items. Recent patches have made it pretty great as well as shown below: The closed beta will get access to a test build and not be allowed to share screenshots or footage. The test will be for the 4 player multiplayer mode for the upcoming Android port. Feral Interactive has also detailed the recommended specifications for Android and they are Android 8.0 or later, 4GB RAM, an Exynos 8890 Octa or Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 CPU, Mali-T880 MP12 or Adreno 530 GPU. They may allow devices below these into the beta but can’t guarantee performance. Hopefully we learn about the final device requirements soon. You can sign up for it here. If you’ve not checked it out yet, read our review of G...

Feral Interactive’s ‘Tropico’ Is Finally Available on iPhone with a Few Other Nifty Features That Have Just Released through a Free Update to the iPad Version

Gambar
Tropico ($11.99) from Feral Interactive finally hit the App Store a little while ago and it is a fully premium release with no in app purchases. The port on iPad is pretty great and today, it finally arrives for iPhone. Feral Interactive showed the iPhone version off in some gameplay videos and this update has arrived with version 1.2.1 on the App Store: After confirming the release date, Feral Interactive also announced the supported devices list which I wrote about here. The requirements haven’t really changed and you still need 3GB of free space. The supported devices on the iPhone side of things are the iPhone SE, iPhone 6S/6S Plus, iPhone 7/7 Plus, iPhone 8/8 Plus, iPhone X, iPhone XS/ XS Max, and the iPhone XR. The update also adds a screenshot mode that lets you disable the HUD and some more tweaks including the ability to closely watch up to 12 citizens. If you haven’t picked it up yet, get Tropico on the App Store for iPad right now. You can check out our forum thr...

GameClub Launches 5th Cell’s ‘Run Roo Run’ in Early Access, Announces Rocketcat’s ‘Super QuickHook’ For Next Week

Gambar
The heroes over at GameClub, who have endeavored to bring back some of the App Store’s lost classics, have continued to hit their promised weekly release mark with a new lost classic released today for their Early Access program on Testflight. This week’s release is 5th Cell’s hit 2012 auto-run platformer Run Roo Run . Coming at a time when most runners were pretty basic endless affairs, Run Roo Run offered more than 400 finely crafted levels as well as a number of different mechanics that could be layered on top in addition to the typical jumps and slides of other games. It really felt like it paved the way for more skill-based runners like the Rayman Run series, and we loved Run Roo Run in our original review from more than 7 years ago. Now GameClub is bringing it all back and as of today you can play it through their Early Access program. This marks the eighth GameClub Early Access release since the company was unveiled early last month, following other classic reissues Wooor...

SwitchArcade Round-Up: ‘BOXBOY! + BOXGIRL!’, ‘Moero Chronicle Hyper’, and Other New Releases, Ridiculous Amounts of Sales, and More

Gambar
Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for Monday, April 29th. You may have noticed that there was no SwitchArcade on Friday. I had a bit of a medical emergency and it just wasn’t possible to put anything together. Sorry! But I’m okay now, and as such I’ve decided to catch up on everything I missed. No news or reviews today, but watch for those to make their returns tomorrow. Let’s catch up! New Releases Panty Party ($14.99) I still can’t believe this is a real game that exists and is available on the Nintendo eShop. But here we are. Take control of one of a large variety of flying panties and use your special abilities to attack the enemy panties. That sentence describes a real video game. Given that the game is rated E10+, you probably shouldn’t expect anything too provocative here. Rather, it’s a sort of absurdity that you play just to see stupid-looking situations. And you can even play four-player split-screen, provided you can find three friends that w...

‘Forget Me Not: My Organic Garden’ Review – An Active Tapper With Heart

Gambar
Freemium idle clickers are a dime a dozen on the App Store, but what happens when the genre swings into being a premium active tapper instead? Enter Forget Me Not: My Organic Garden ($3.99) by Japanese developer Cavy House. It’s not just any organic garden, though, as you’re harvesting human organs. The play on words alone had me hooked: an organic garden growing organic organs. That’s hilarious! And it’s a wonderful, creative concept. Instead of sitting by and watching your precious garden grow on its own, you need to be actively involved in its success – after all, plants won’t grow without you around to water them! But what exactly can you expect from Forget Me Not: My Organic Garden ? The game places you in the role of Organa, Irene’s shop assistant. Irene runs a small, bustling organ shop. As Organa, your main duty is to tend to the greenhouse. It’s a whopper of a job, with several things needing to be done at any given time, but surely Organa (and the player behind her) is ab...
