Steam Decks and Teslas – The TouchArcade Show #521

This week’s TouchArcade Show features a rollercoaster of emotions as Eli tells us all about how his precious Tesla is finally in his possession. I counter this feel good happy story with my own tale of how my precious bicycle was stolen right out of my backyard. We then switch gears to the big AAA game release of the moment, Elden Ring , before we spend a whole lot of time discussing Valve’s Steam Deck, which officially launched today. I wrote a big long review for it which you can find in the Show Notes below. Don’t forget to shoot us emails with any questions, feedback, or anything else relevant or irrelevant to podcast@toucharcade.com . We read ’em all, and love decoding messages written entirely in emoji. As always, you can listen to us with the links below… And if you like what you hear, please subscribe and/or drop us a review in iTunes. Much appreciated! As a companion to this audio podcast, we also do a video version of the same show that is exclusive to Patreon which allow...

TouchArcade Game of the Week: ‘Siralim Ultimate’

Gambar
The Siralim games from developer Thylacine Studios have provided some of the deepest and content rich RPG-ish type games on mobile for nearly a decade now. The elevator pitch would be to call it Pokemon mixed with Diablo , as the main elements are to collect, upgrade, and combine a huge mixture of monster types to use in battle as you go dungeon diving and complete various quests around the game’s huge open world. But as catchy as “ Pokemon meets Diablo " is, it still doesn’t do the series justice because there’s just so much more you can do in these games. They’ve grown with each entry too, starting with the original Siralim on mobile back in July of 2014, followed by Siralim 2 about two years later in August of 2016, and Siralim 3 just about two more years later in October of 2018. Each game more stuffed to the gills with awesome things to do. So where do you go from there? After an Early Access period, Thylacine released Siralim Ultimate on Steam this past December, and...

‘Final Fantasy VI’ Pixel Remaster Review – Don’t Tease the Octopus, Kids

Gambar
It’s taken a little while, but the final game in Square Enix’s Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster project has arrived. In some ways, it’s the game that people have most been looking forward to in this line. In other ways, there’s been a hint of dread about it. Given the scope of the other Pixel Remasters and the state of the original Final Fantasy VI , this game perhaps stood to benefit the least from this remake. Yet for mobile gamers, it’s not so much about taking the place of the original game but rather the somewhat maligned 2014 remake. That feels like an easier bar to clear, at least. Is Final Fantasy VI Pixel Remaster ($17.99) the best version of the game, then? That’s a very difficult question to answer but if I really look deep into my heart, I have to just barely lean towards the negative. It’s very close, and this Pixel Remaster does score a couple of minor wins in some categories, but I still think the original Super NES version is the best official means of playing this al...

In today’s article, we look at the remaining releases of the week plus a few stragglers that slipped past me yesterday. It turned out to be a lot. New Releases Atelier Sophie 2: The Alchemist of the Mysterious Dream ($59.99) SwitchArcade Highlight! Here’s your regular dose of Atelier fluff. We’ve spent the last couple of years with Ryza, and I’m sure we haven’t seen the last of her. But for now, we’re checking back in with the protagonist of 2015’s Atelier Sophie to see what she got up to after she left Kirchen Bell. You know how this works by now, friends. Turn-based battles, crafting, and lots of colorful characters. I’ll have a full review of this o...
