SwitchArcade Round-Up: Reviews Featuring ‘Touken Ranbu Warriors’ and ‘Biomotor Unitron’, Plus Today’s Releases and Sales

Gambar
Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for May 31st, 2022. In today’s article, we’ve got a few reviews for you. Koei Tecmo’s Touken Ranbu Warriors , ININ Games’ Wonder Boy Collection , and SNK’s Biomotor Unitron all slide into the chair of judgement to receive their just desserts. We’ve got a few new releases to look at, though almost all of them are MAXIMUM DUBIOUS . Finally, sales. They exist. They are not plentiful. We have the lists anyway for you to consider. Let’s get to it! Reviews Touken Ranbu Warriors ($59.99) I know of Touken Ranbu , but only a little bit. Something of a Kantai Collection for the other side of the aisle, it’s a card game that envisions legendary swords as handsome young men. It has been a roaring success, but I don’t think it’s controversial to say that its primary audience and the players of Koei Tecmo’s Warriors games probably don’t have a lot of overlap. Perhaps owing to that, Touken Ranbu Warriors appears to have been caref...

‘Tropico’ Gets ‘Postcards From Tropico’ Free Mission Pack on iOS and Android in New Update, More Content Packs Planned

Gambar
Tropico ($11.99) hit mobile with superb controls and optimization thanks to Feral Interactive a while ago. If you’ve never played a Tropico game before, read my review of the initial iPad version. Following that iPad release, Tropico eventually got an iPhone version through a universal update and hit Android . A full expansion was then added to both iOS and Android for free in the form of the Absolute Power expansion . Today, Feral Interactive have released the game’s first update in over a year with a new mission pack. This mission pack is titled ‘Postcards from Tropico’ and is free for existing owners. This is the first in a series of content packs coming to the game on iOS and Android.Watch the Tropico ‘Postcards from Tropico’ mission pack trailer below: I was wondering if Tropico would get any new content last week when looking at the bigger games on my iPad, and thought it would be good for Feral Interactive to bring over another game in the series to mobile. The timin...

Gambar
I’m glad Square Enix continues to give the SaGa series this much attention with remakes, ports, new mobile games, and more, but the real surprise is that we almost always see mobile versions of said remakes and ports. Today, Square Enix had a SaGa livestream in Japan, and the company announced a remaster of the PS2 remake of the Super Famicom original (yes) Romancing SaGa game. Romancing SaGa: Ministrel Song Remastered is an enhanced version of the PS2 release coming to iOS, Android, Switch, PS5, PS4, and Steam with enhancements. These have not been detailed yet, but this release will finally bring the original Romancing SaGa to modern platforms. The second and third entries have been released on mobile and more with even newer games in the series like SaGa Scarlet Grace: Ambitions ($29.99) hitting multiple platforms. Watch the Romancing SaGa: Ministrel Song Remastered trailer below: Until this new remaster, the game wasn’t available outside Japan and North America on PS2 ei...

Gambar
Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for May 30th, 2022. We’re kicking off the week with a bit of news that popped up over the weekend before heading into a lovely, detailed review by our pal Mikhail of the excellent OPUS: Echo of Starsong . After that, we have a few highly dubious new releases to check out, plus some fresh sales and expiring discounts. Let’s get this party started! News ‘Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords’ Port Announced Sometimes things happen after I go home for the night. Rarely, things happen after I go home for the weekend. Such was the case last Friday when Aspyr announced that they will be bringing Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords to the Nintendo Switch on June 8th. The price will be $15.00, and you can pre-order it now. Better still, the mod that basically completes the infamously unfinished game will be made available as a free download in the future. Very cool. The Latest ‘Fire...

Steam Deck Update Reduces Fan Noise, Adds Refresh Rate Control, Remote Play Together Support, and More

Gambar
Today, Valve pushed out another major update for SteamOS on Steam Deck. This update focuses on reducing fan noise with some useful features finally implemented. If you missed our review, see what Jared thought of it at launch here . If you recently bought a Steam Deck, check out my features on the best accessories for it and the best games to play on Steam Deck here . I also covered the best JRPGs to play on Steam Deck. One of the biggest complaints I’ve read about the Steam Deck is the fan noise. Today’s update has a new fan profile controlled by software that drastically reduces the fan noise overall in low power consumption situations. The highlight for me is the 40hz refresh rate aspect. The Phawx covered it here based on the beta. The final new feature in this update is support for Steam’s awesome Remote Play Together . Check out a screenshot of it in action below: The full patch notes for SteamOS 3.2 on Steam Deck are here . Other notable features are higher maximum speaker ...

Sony Reveals Aggressive Mobile Growth Plans for PlayStation, About 20% of Its Output Could Be on Mobile by 2025

Gambar
Last year, Sony revealed that it is exploring the mobile market with “wonderful PlayStation franchises". Fast forward to today, we haven’t seen much of the results of that, but the company revealed in its corporate strategy meeting under the Game and Network Services portion that it has aggressive growth plans for mobile with a possibility of about 20% of its output being mobile by 2025. Sony also has plans to partner with respected, established, and successful mobile developers to extend franchises to more players and regions. It wants to remain faithful to the values of PlayStation, publish relevant external games, and also expand to cross-platform where relevant according to the slide. Over the years, we’ve already seen Sony’s own Journey , The Unfinished Swan , and more hit iOS through Annapurna Interactive. There are a few notable Sony titles that could be brought over to mobile already like Patapon or Loco Roco , but this will likely mean tie-in games or separate bespoke ...

Each and every day new mobile games are hitting the App Store, and so each week we put together a big old list of all the best new releases of the past seven days. Back in the day the App Store would showcase the same games for a week, and then refresh those features each Thursday. Because of that developers got into the habit of releasing their games throughout Wednesday or very early Thursday in order to hopefully get one of those coveted features spots. Nowadays the App Store refreshes constantly, so the need for everyone to release all on the same day has diminished. Still, we’ve kept our weekly Wednesday night format as for years that’s the time people knew to check TouchArcade for the list of new games. And so without further ado please check out the full list of this week’s new games below, and let us know in the comments section which games you’ll be picking up!   Animal Shelter Simulator (Free) iTunes Description Save our four-legged friends!
