Each and every day new mobile games are hitting the App Store, and so each week we put together a big old list of all the best new releases of the past seven days. Back in the day the App Store would showcase the same games for a week, and then refresh those features each Thursday. Because of that developers got into the habit of releasing their games throughout Wednesday or very early Thursday in order to hopefully get one of those coveted features spots. Nowadays the App Store refreshes constantly, so the need for everyone to release all on the same day has diminished. Still, we’ve kept our weekly Wednesday night format as for years that’s the time people knew to check TouchArcade for the list of new games. And so without further ado please check out the full list of this week’s new games below, and let us know in the comments section which games you’ll be picking up!   Ace Angler: Fishing Spirits M (Free) iTunes Description The popular Japanese fishing game Ace Angler is ...

SwitchArcade Round-Up: ‘Elevator Action Returns’, ‘Astronite’, and Today’s Other New Releases and Sales

Gambar
Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for November 30th, 2022. We’re finishing up the month on a quiet note, friends. There are five new releases to look at today, with a few notables amongst them. We’ve got summaries for all of them, of course. We’ve also got the new sales (not much) and outgoing sales (quite a lot) to check out. So let’s get to that checking out, shall we? New Releases Front Mission 1st: Remake ($34.99) You might remember Forever Entertainment from its bland but serviceable remakes of Panzer Dragoon and House of the Dead . Well, here’s a bland but serviceable remake of the DS remake of Front Mission . It sucks almost all of the charm out of the visuals but otherwise seems to have its t’s crossed and i’s dotted. Forever will also be doing remakes of Front Mission 2 and Front Mission 3 , apparently. So yes, do look forward to those. Elevator Action -Returns- S-Tribute ($14.99) Elevator Action is back… in Saturn form! If you’ve never p...

Side-Scrolling Shooter ‘Pulstar’ ACA NeoGeo From SNK and Hamster Is Out Now on iOS and Android

Gambar
Last week, Top Hunter Roddy and Cathy hit iOS and Android as Hamster and SNK’s newest ACA NeoGeo release. Read Shaun’s review of it here . Today, the side-scrolling shooter Pulstar has hit mobile platforms. Pulstar debuted in 1995, and it has you controlling the Dino246 to take down aliens attacking the solar system. It includes “5 unique voyager items and special IO items" to help you defeat the aliens and protect your ship. Pulstar is one of the more interesting releases in this series to come to mobile outside of all the fighting games that I’ve enjoyed playing on other platforms. Watch the trailer for Hamster’s console release below: You can buy Pulstar ACA NeoGeo on the App Store for iOS here and Google Play for Android here . As with prior releases on mobile, this costs half of what it does on consoles at $3.99. If you’ve not heard of the series or seen it in action on mobile yet, Shaun has reviewed most of the releases so far in the ACA NeoGeo series on iOS. Check ...

‘Secret Shuffle’ is a New “Silent Disco” Party Game from the Mind Behind ‘Hidden Folks’ and ‘Bounden’, Launching December 8th

Gambar
Prior to making such delights as Hidden Folks and Wurdweb , Dutch game designer Adriaan de Jongh co-founded the studio Game Oven. They were most well-known for non-traditional gaming experiences like Fingle , which was like Twister but for your fingers on a touchscreen, or Bounden , which was a clever game that essentially “tricked" two people to dance with each other using a mobile device. These types of games were unique, especially in the mobile gaming space, because they encouraged people to actually play together in real-life and in most instances invade each other’s close quarters in a way that could be both awkward and exhilarating. In a world where we are increasingly becoming absorbed into our own individual little worlds, it was pretty cool to see games that encouraged human contact and real world participation. It’s that sort of spirit that I can see clearly in Adriaan de Jongh’s newest game Secret Shuffle . This is a music-based party game for at least 4 and up to 60...

SwitchArcade Round-Up: Reviews Featuring ‘Rogue Legacy 2’, Plus ‘The Knight Witch’ and Today’s Other Releases and Sales

Gambar
Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for November 29th, 2022. In today’s article, we’ve got a full review of Rogue Legacy 2 . I wanted to do more reviews, but life got in the way in a big way today. There’s a bit of news to cover about Nintendo Switch Sports , so we’ll take a minute to look at that. After that, there are a couple of cool new releases today, and we’ve got summaries of both of them. We wrap things up with the usual lists of new and outgoing sales. Let’s go! News The Golf Update is Now Available in ‘Nintendo Switch Sports’ Nintendo Switch Sports released back in April, and one of the more surprising things about the game is that it launched without one of the more popular sports from Wii Sports : golfing. Nintendo indicated that it would be added in a free update later, and that “later" is today. There are a few things in the update beyond the addition of golf as an event, but you can go ahead and watch the above video for the general ...

‘Reigns: Three Kingdoms’ Headlines a Trio of New Netflix Games Releases Today

Gambar
The Netflix library of games just keeps on growing and growing and growing. Today three new titles have landed on the service all at once, headlined by a brand new game in the Reigns series. We’ve known about Reigns: Three Kingdoms ever since it was unveiled during Netflix’s Geeked Week virtual fan event this past June, and like other games in the series, it takes the perfect-for-mobile swipe right or left decision making mechanic that was more or less wholesale swiped from Tinder and applies it to a monarchy simulator set during the downfall of the Han dynasty during the Three Kingdoms period in China. There was a really nice explainer video released last week which goes into more detail on all the gameplay, and that compliments this brand new Reigns: Three Kingdoms launch trailer below quite nicely. As mentioned in the title this new Reigns game is just one of three new ones to hit Netflix Games today. We also have Hello Kitty Happiness Parade from Rogue and Dabadu Games w...

‘Top Hunter Roddy & Cathy’ Review – This One’s a Bit of a Stretch

Gambar
The NEOGEO is generally characterized by, with only a few notable exceptions, fighting games and Metal Slug . Within a couple of years of its launch, the vast majority of the output on the console seemed to be mining (quite successfully) a few particular types of games. To be fair, such was the state of arcades by the mid-1990s. If you weren’t making a fighting game, a licensed beat-em-up, a shoot-em-up, or a puzzle game, you were rowing against the current. That makes the existence of Top Hunter: Roddy & Cathy ($3.99) a bit of a rarity. Developed internally at SNK by ex-IREM staffers, the game arrived in the summer of 1994 alongside The King of Fighters ’94 . One of those games became near-legendary, carving its legacy into the very platform in an indelible way. The other was Top Hunter. A quirky little platformer/beat-em-up hybrid for one or two players, one could generously say that it paved the way for Metal Slug in some small way. While there is no significant shared s...

SwitchArcade Round-Up: Reviews Featuring ‘Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’, Plus the Latest Releases and Sales

Gambar
Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for November 28th, 2022. In today’s article, we’ve got a pair of reviews to check out. Full reviews of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet and The Oregon Trail are waiting for you to read. There’s just one new release today, and it’s not really worth caring much about. We’ve got a summary anyway. After that, there are some new and outgoing sales to comb through. Let’s get to it! Reviews & Mini-Views Pokemon Scarlet and Violet ($59.99) I’ll be upfront: I could have easily given this game a five out of five. It really shakes up the Pokemon formula in many ways, and it works so well that it’s going to be hard to go back to the older games. It’s ridiculously fun to play, and in many ways is the kind of Pokemon game people have been asking for almost since the start. It has some things to improve on from a gameplay perspective, but Game Freak took some big risks here and I think almost all of them paid off. It’s unfortunate,...
