Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for February 28th, 2023. In today’s article, we’ve got a little bit of Pokemon -related news to catch up on. After that, we slide into a couple of reviews. Akka Arrh and Planet Cube: Edge are the games in question, and they’re both pretty decent. Then it’s new release time, and there are several games to look at today. We finish things up with the usual lists of new and outgoing sales for you to consider. Let’s get to the party! News ‘Pokemon Scarlet & Violet’ Expansion ‘The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero’ Announced Right, there was a Pokemon thing yesterday. I didn’t remember until I was back home for the evening, hence the lack of hype in yesterday’s article. There were a few different things shown, but the main point of interest for Switch owners was the announcement of the expansion to Pokemon Scarlet and Violet , titled The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero . As with the expansion to Sword and Shield it’s a two-p...

The 10 Best Arcade Archives Fighting Games on Switch in 2023

Gambar
Recently, we’ve been looking at the best games in Hamster’s Arcade Archives line of arcade game re-releases. With hundreds of games available in the line, it can be a little hard to find the cream of the crop. In our previous lists, we first took a look at the best shoot-em-ups , then the finest of the beat-em-ups , and even the best puzzle games . Today we’re checking out the best fighting games in the line, which admittedly is going to involve a lot of NEOGEO games. One rule: only one game per series. Otherwise we’d have a bunch of The King of Fighters . In no particular order, here are our ten favorite fighting games in the catalog. The King of Fighters ’98 ($7.99) There are tons of games in this series, and the bulk of them are available through Arcade Archives . While every installment is someone’s favorite, the one that seems to lead the pack more often than the rest is The King of Fighters ’98 . As one of the Dream Match installments, it doesn’t have to worry about contribu...

SwitchArcade Round-Up: Reviews Featuring ‘Elderand’ & ‘Ninja JaJaMaru’, Plus the Latest Releases and Sales

Gambar
Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for February 27th, 2023. In today’s article, it’s a review bonanza as I offer up not one, not two, not three or four, but five reviews for you to digest. All of the Ninja JaJaMaru games! Grim Guardians: Demon Purge ! Elderand ! Which one is the best? Which one is the worst? I hope you are excited to find out, because otherwise all I have for you is a single new release and some lists of sales. Let’s see if it works! Reviews & Mini-Views Elderand ($19.99) I’ve said a great many times that the Metroidvania genre is so saturated at this point that you can have a perfectly good game that doesn’t do anything wrong and it will still end up in the middle of the pack. You have to have a hook of some kind, and it had best not be a hook that is equally well-worn. Unfortunately, Elderand ‘s main hook is in bringing in elements from the Dark Souls blueprint, and that’s pretty much the costume everyone shows up in these days. ...

Steam Deck One Year Later – Massively Improved but There’s Still Work To Be Done

Gambar
It has been a year since Valve launched the Steam Deck . We’ve been covering it right from the start, and it has grown to become a device both Jared and myself use daily. A lot has changed in a year since Jared’s review went up . I’ve been covering it quite a bit since that time through features on games, updates to steamOS, and more recently Steam Deck reviews for certain games. While I didn’t have the Deck from the start, I have been using it since April last year, and there have been many improvements from Valve across games and the system software in that time. A year later, I wanted to highlight some of the notable features Valve has brought to the Steam Deck, discuss how modern games play on it from day one, and highlight some areas where it needs more work. Before getting into the software improvements and features, I’ve been very impressed with how almost every game I’ve bought or gotten review code for in the last few months works without issues on Steam Deck right from day ...

Best iPhone Game Updates: ‘Pocket Card Jockey’, ‘Toon Blast’, ‘Marvel Snap’, ‘Bloons TD 6’, and More

Gambar
Hello everyone, and welcome to the week! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. One of those weeks, friends. Shaun didn’t plan his time out properly and now we’re in a pickle. I still managed to find some cool game updates for you to check out. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s go for it! MARVEL SNAP , Free I wrote this one up in painful detail last week when it hit, but Marvel Snap had an update last week that was more about balance adjustments than anything. Darkhawk got his first nerf but perhaps not his last, while a number of other characters got some buffs to try to help them get more play. There are lots of other details, so feel free to check that story if you want more info. Sadly, no new Spider-Mans, so no coveted award this time. Wylde Flowers , Okay, let’s ...
