‘Battle Bowls’, a Mobile Take on Lawn Bowls’, Needs Beta Testers on iOS and Android

Gambar
Australian developer Crystal Pug released the Ninja Warrior-esque obstacle course platformer Oopstacles (Free) back in the spring of 2017 and have been updating it constantly ever since. Now they’re on the brink of finishing up their next game Battle Bowls , a mobile take on lawn bowls, and they’re looking for some beta testing help. In case you’re unfamiliar, lawn bowls is a popular sport in Australia that’s similar to bocce ball where you take turns against an opponent throwing weighted balls in an effort to roll your ball closest to a “jack" ball out in the field. It’s actually more involved than that but those basics are all you’ll need to know for Battle Bowls . Throwing out your ball is a simple two-part process where you’ll drag back on the ball to set the distance of your shot, and then tap the screen while an aiming arrow moves back and forth to set how straight your shot will be. Each player gets to throw 3 balls and whoever ends up closest to the jack wins. In addit...

If you’re in the United States and anywhere near the Midwest, I hope you’re staying nice and toasty today. Here in the Chicago area we’re seeing record-breaking cold, with my town in particular hitting -55º F wind chills at around 6:00 AM today. It’s so cold outside that we actually were able to do the thing where you throw boiling water into the air and have it instantly turn into snow. When life gives you lemons, make snowy lemonade, as they say? Ironically enough, it’s National Escape Day , but I will not be escaping my house with how cold it is outside. But, on the up side, there’s a bunch of new iOS games to hop into. Here’s all the recent games to be posted on our forums: Air Force Destruction Dogfight (Zain Ali) Angry Birds Dream Blast (by Rovio Entertainment) ANOTHER EDEN (by WFS) Battle Heroes : Merge Idle RPG (by 4th May Soft) Blackout – memory game (by AntiSocialGames) Blaze of Fantasy (by CoCogame) Cage It! (by Marcelo Pars) Chromas (by Toby Weston) Color Ring...

SwitchArcade Round-Up: ‘Legrand Legacy’ Review, ‘Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’ Update, A New Character for ‘Mario Tennis Aces’, Today’s New Releases, and More

Gambar
Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for January 30th, 2019. Today we’ve got a review of the JRPG-style game Legrand Legacy: Tale of the Fatebounds , news of updates for a few of Nintendo’s heavy hitters, a whole batch of new releases, some sales, and more. You know, all that good stuff that fills one’s belly, metaphorically speaking. We’ve got a lot to go through as usual, though, so let’s get to it! News Boom Boom Heads to ‘Mario Tennis Aces’ in February, New Update Coming Soon New challengers keep on coming to Mario Tennis Aces , and the latest addition will be long-suffering mini-boss Boom Boom, who makes the scene sometime next month. Debuting in Super Mario Bros. 3 , Boom Boom has made sporadic appearances in Mario games over the years, generally serving as a big, stupid boss at the end of a mid-world castle. In other news, Version 2.2.0 of Mario Tennis Aces will be hitting sometime this week, adding a Court Selection option to Free Play and Swing...

‘Road to Valor: World War II’ Is Like ‘Clash Royale’, but With Realistic WW2 Units and Setting

Folks love to get down on the various clones on the App Store, but over the years what we’ve seen is that these popular games that are worth cloning are super fun, and sometimes all it takes is a theme that’s slightly more appealing to get someone involved in that gameplay formula. For example, we saw quite a few people around here who never were able to get into the super generic fantasy setting of Game of War (Free) , but are big enough fans of Final Fantasy that the reskinned Final Fantasy XV: A New Empire (Free) was what got them sucked into the free to play base building and war fighting genre. Somewhat similarly, maybe you don’t really like Supercell’s cartoony art style that’s shared across all their games, which always turned you off from playing them. That’s totally fair, but Clash Royale (Free) is a really good game, and the reason it has consistently charted so highly on mobile app stores is because the format of a super lightweight strategy game with short session le...

‘Loot Drop’ is a Humorous Upcoming Clicker with an Amazing Trailer

Gambar
I am a fan of games not taking themselves too seriously, and hey, in the world of idle clickers how serious can you really be? Not very according to Loot Drop , an upcoming clicker from Singapore-based CritCo Games . You’ll square off against “conveniently pre-defeated monsters" and collect the shiny loot that they drop while avoiding the array of hazards that can also burst forth from their lifeless bodies. Yes, it’s “a moral grey area" looting murdered monsters, according to the game’s amazing trailer. Use all that il-gotten loot to buy brand new equipment. And what sort of equipment would a person playing a clicker need? Why gloves, of course. Learn all about Loot Drop in this very official Guide to Looting from CritCo. I’m a BIG fan of that there trailer. CritCo is just a two-person operation whose mission statement is: “Here at CritCo, we strive to make every train ride, loo break and triple bypass surgery a little happier. One game at a time." The company was f...

Fellow Traveller Is Bringing the Beautiful Narrative Driven ‘The Stillness Of The Wind’ to iOS and Switch Next Week

Gambar
Earlier this month, Steve from Fellow Traveller posted a thread on our forums looking for beta testers for an upcoming iOS game that was set to release alongside the PC version. It looks like that ended up being The Stillness Of The Wind which is a narrative driven experience that was only announced for PC platforms until today. I’m a sucker for most games like this and can’t wait to check it out on iPad. Watch the release date trailer for it below: The Stillness Of The Wind lets you play as Talma who is a lonely elderly goat farmer. You experience Talma’s life through meditation, life, loss, and more. You decide how to spend Talma’s final days. I love the art shown in the trailer and the use a the small color palette. Talma also encounters a travelling merchant who brings some interesting letters from her family who live in the city. The Stillness Of The Wind is set to release on PC platforms and Switch for $12.99 next week. It hits iOS for $4.99 on February 7th. I’m curious ...
