SwitchArcade Round-Up: ‘Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3’ DLC Available, ‘Cuphead’ on Sale to Celebrate 2nd Anniversary, Today’s New Releases, the Latest Sales, and More
Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for September 30th, 2019. It’s the final day of the month and the first day of the working week. What will the new week and month bring? Lots of games. Lots and lots. But that’s just normal around here, isn’t it? Today at least is a little quiet, with a pair of new releases, a little bit of news, and a whole bunch of sales. Let’s head in!
News
The First DLC Pack for ‘Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3’ is Out Now
If you bought that shiny expansion pass for Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3, your day has finally come. Marvel Knights: Curse of the Vampire is now available, adding a new story scenario and bringing Punisher, Blade, Morbius, and Moon Knight to the playable roster. There are also some new challenges in the Gauntlet Mode. For those who didn’t pick up the expansion pass, you still get some goodies today. As promised, free costumes for Captain America, Black Panther, Iron Man, and Thor have been made available. Cap’s Super Soldier look, Black Panther’s awesome Thrice-Blessed Armor, Iron Man’s Extremis Armor, and Thor’s Ultimate Thor style are now in the game. Not my first picks for all of those characters, but still cool.
Another Update for ‘Chasm’ is Coming October 3rd
Chasm is a pretty interesting take on the whole Metroidvania concept. In some ways, it feels like it nails down the ‘Vania part of that better than most. Anyway, the game is getting another update really soon. It includes a new Arcade Mode complete with online leaderboards, customizable controls, 80 new rooms, new shortcuts and save points, and a whole lot of other really good stuff. Reading through the update notes, it feels like the developer has taken a lot of feedback on-board and is trying to overhaul as much as possible to address it. This update will be available October 3rd, so keep your eyes peeled on Thursday.
New Releases
Chop is Dish ($3.00)
Um, okay. Some monsters stole your beef, and you want to get it back. I don’t want to be too pessimistic, Mr. Chef, but I suspect your beef is going to be gone pretty quickly. It’s not really something you save for a rainy day, you know? Anyway, this is a side-scrolling action platformer. It stars a chef and that’s about as much originality as I can spot in it. Otherwise, you’re jumping through forests and caves, battling bugs and other critters, and trying to avoid dangerous obstacles like fireballs and saw blades. It’s just three bucks, so that’s something that is going for it.
Freecell Solitaire Deluxe ($8.99)
It is 2019, and there is time for Freecell. This isn’t the first game like this on the Switch, and it sure as heck won’t be last. It does look like a decent one, however. There are 15 different 3D themes to choose from, the ability to play in 3D or a more standard 2D top-down style, lots of background music, and more than 10 different designs for the cards themselves. Not much more to say about it, as it’s otherwise a pretty standard take on Freecell Solitaire.
Sales
A lot of new sales went up over the weekend, and a few of them even came and went without any chance for me to tell you about them. Well, that’s how things go sometimes. The big news today is obviously that sale on Cuphead, which celebrates the game’s second anniversary and, apparently, over five million units sold across all platforms. Holy smokes, my Canadian brethren are eating well from that one! Besides that, it’s a bit of a grab bag of titles. Have a look and see what catches your eye, I suppose. In the outbox, Activision’s latest sale is coming to a close. Grab those Crash games if you want, but they’ll be back around eventually.

That’ll do it for today, friends. Things are starting to settle down here, and I think my hand is on the mend. With any luck, I’ll be back up to my normal writing speed tomorrow and we can finally get a few reviews in here. As for new releases, I know tomorrow has at least a few noteworthy games to check out. We’ll also have whatever news and sales come our way, so do swing around and see what’s what. Have a great day, and as always, thanks for reading!
