SwitchArcade Round-Up: ‘No More Heroes 3’, ‘Baldo The Guardian Owls’, and Today’s Other New Releases and Sales
Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for August 27th, 2021. I’m mostly back to normal today, but I’ve decided I like the way I handled the summaries yesterday so I’m going to do things that way as my feeling dictates from now on. Anyway, we’ve got several new games to look at today, with the biggest of the bunch being Suda51’s No More Heroes 3. We’ve also got a decent-sized list of new sales to check out, as well as the list of discounts that are ending over the weekend. Let’s get to it!
New Releases
No More Heroes 3 ($59.99)
SwitchArcade Highlight!
Travis Touchdown is back again, and this time he’s going galactic. It’s not enough to be the best on Earth this time around. You need to fight to the top of the Galactic Superhero rankings to put an end to an alien invasion that threatens all of humanity. I’ll have a review soon, but what I can say for now is that this is very much No More Heroes, except 3. You can suplex an alligator.
One-Eyed Lee and the Dinner Party ($4.99)
Beracus and Lee are hunting for a cure for an illness afflicting the village of the former. The find a bunker believed to be abandoned and decide to search it. They get stuck inside and find it isn’t as empty as they thought. It’s populated by a friendly family of skeleton cult members who insist you stay for the party. The pair need to find a way to escape and hopefully find some clues to the cure along the way. It’s largely a narrative game with choices, but there are some light puzzles to solve too. There are multiple endings, adding some replay value.
Hammer 2 Reloaded ($5.99)
More junk from Pix Arts. It’s a third person shooter that Mr. Benoit Vanasse purchased from the Unity Asset Store for $54.99 and flipped onto the Switch. It looks poor, it plays worse, and you can probably find about 13.7 million better ways to spend six bucks.
Orbibot ($4.99)
Orbibot is one of those games where your character is a ball and you have to roll your way through puzzles and obstacles to clear each stage. Seems fine enough for a fiver if you like this kind of thing.
Moonshades: A Classic Dungeon Crawler RPG ($17.99)
This is a reasonably well-made Dungeon Master-style dungeon crawler that has been ported over from the mobile markets. Naturally, it’s not free here. But no microtransactions, so that’s nice. I recommend giving that free mobile version a try to see how you like it, then swinging back over here to the Switch version if you come away pleased with the experience.
Baldo The Guardian Owls ($24.99)
Naps Team is going really ambitious with this one, and I sure hope the developer can pull it off. It certainly looks nice, but we all know how that can go. Travel an open world, meet interesting characters, explore temples, solve puzzles, get new gear, and fight a variety of enemies. If you have Apple Arcade, you can try this game out on there to see how it turned out before dropping the money to buy it on your Switch. Or even just play it there and keep your twenty-five bucks. Up to you.
How Buddy’s Parents Met ($3.99)
Another jigsaw puzzle app, this one with six different scenes depicting how a couple comes together from the perspective of the man’s pet cat. You can play each of the puzzles on five different levels of difficulty. Functionally it’s quite similar to the other jigsaw puzzle apps released by QUByte.
Townscaper ($5.99)
The description itself is upfront about what to expect here. This is more of a toy than a game in that you can’t really win or lose here, and all you’re really doing is laying things out and putting together a town that pleases you. Choose different colors and types of buildings, plop them down on the grid, and watch the algorithm make whatever it will out of them. Just something to chill with when you need to relax, I suppose.
Puzzletronics ($3.99)
In spite of how it looks, this isn’t a real simulation of how electronic circuits work. Rather, this is a puzzle game where you need to move pieces to complete the circuit. There are 70 different puzzles to clear, which seems more than reasonable for the price.
Nostalgic Train ($13.99)
Ah, now that’s a nostalgic train. I mean, if you have fond memories of old Japanese trains and countryside towns. Most of you won’t. Some of you will! But the nice thing about nostalgia is that if it’s done very well, you can enjoy the feeling by proxy. Wander around the Natsugiri area and try to solve the mystery of where all of its inhabitants have gone. There are two modes here, one where you can just freely explore, and one that is something of a walking sim mystery.
Sales
(North American eShop, US Prices)
Some interesting ones in the list today. I say that a lot, I recognize. Sorry. My picks from the inbox: Turnip Boy Commits Tax Evasion, Crashlands, Umurangi Generation, and A Hat in Time. As for the weekend outbox, nothing in there really drives me wild personally. But you know the usual advice, friends: check through both of those lists carefully and see what catches your eye.

That’s all for today and this week, friends. Next week has some stuff to look forward to in the form of Prinny Presents NIS Classics Volume 1, Monster Harvest, Weapon of Choice DX, and more. With August almost in the books, we’re about to head into the busy part of the year for game releases. Well, busier when it comes to Switch. It’s never not busy, after all. I hope you all have a great weekend, and as always, thanks for reading!
