Ubisoft’s ‘Might & Magic Elemental Guardians’ Hits the App Store

Gambar
Following its pre-registration back in March, and its lengthy soft-launch that kicked off over a year ago, Ubisoft has finally officially launched Might & Magic Elemental Guardians (Free) on iOS and Android. Taking the classic RPG series Might & Magic and rejiggering it into a modern mobile game, Might & Magic Elemental Guardians is a free to play battler that has you collecting and upgrading a team of heroes and taking on the world in 5v5 online battles. It’s kind of like if you took the monstrously successful Summoners War (Free) and put it in the world of Might & Magic. You can see it all in action in the following launch trailer. Whether Might & Magic Elemental Guardians can rise to the same level of success as the aforementioned Summoners War remains to be seen. It’s always a dicey proposition leveraging an established and beloved IP into a free to play mobile game, as many fans who have enjoyed Might & Magic games over the years might see this mobile

‘Jurassic World Alive’ Guide – How to Create Hybrids, Win Battles and Play Longer for Free With Our Tips, Cheats and Hacks

Gambar
If you’re tired of catching pocket monsters on your phone and want to try for something a little bigger and possibly with a lot more teeth, Jurassic World Alive (Free) is the game you seek. Is it lazy to call it “ Pokemon GO with dinosaurs"? Probably! Is it easier to understand that way? Heck yes. Is it accurate? Well, sort of. The central conceit of Jurassic World Alive is an awful lot like PoGO , in the sense that you hunt for things to collect on an in-game map that is overlaid on the real world — in this case thanks to Google Maps integration. Perhaps as an homage to the end of The Lost World , though hopefully not because that was the worst part of that movie, dinosaurs are loose in the real world. Your job is to get as many of them as you can on your side. You can’t catch them by throwing a two-tone ball at them, as that would be silly. These are thunder lizards, after all. Instead, there’s a mini-game that represents you flying a drone to shoot darts at the dinosaurs

‘Justice Royale’ Review – I Beat the Boss and Love, Love, LOVE the ending

Gambar
At the beginning of this month two remarkable things happened, I began writing for Touch Arcade (thanks for all your kind words) and I got to look at Justice Royale (Free) by Zapling Studios  in its soft launch. You may remember my preview , then again it was only my second piece for Touch Arcade so fully understandable if you bypassed the new writer. At the time I put my first impressions together I knew the game was fun but was struggling to beat the boss, well I finally got my fingers to co-operate and took that sucker down. It was an exciting moment, followed by the big twist ending which blew me away. I was finding the petty reason to fight the bullies refreshing, there was none of the usual “rescue the damsel in distress" syndrome so many brawlers fall prey to. However, when I got to the last episode there it was, the girl got kidnapped and I would fight the big muscle-bound thug to save her. No biggie, I figured at least the whole game wasn’t about saving the helpless gi

‘Sir Questionnaire’ Review – The Simplistic and Retro Style Hark Back to a Simpler Era of Gaming

Gambar
I am an old-school gamer, and by this I don’t mean I’m in any way an elitist, or classic games are better than modern ones; rather what I’m telling you is I’m old. Now a lady never reveals her age, but I’ll put it in the ballpark for you: I owned an SNES back when they were the best console on the market. I played the original Mario Brothers and Zelda as new releases and remember a time when text-based RPGs were innovative and popular; do you remember Zork ? Now it may very well be my age which makes Sir Questionnaire ($2.99) such an enjoyable game for me, but I doubt it, especially since at the time of writing this it’s number two in our hot games. It is however, not a game for everyone, as you can see by the mixed feelings expressed in our forums . Personally, I feel if you are finding the game a little lackluster you’re not seeing it as the homage to vintage games that it is. Whether developer OrangePixel set out to honor the classic games of my youth or not I can’t say, thou

Watch Lists are Coming Soon, But Be Sure to Check Out Our New Forums

Gambar
We’re still working on ironing out a few bumps around here with the new TouchArcade, but so far things are going surprisingly well. No one seems to really hate the new look, which is always a good thing! One of the biggest questions we’ve been asked is, “Where the heck is the watch list?" The TouchArcade watch list was one of the core components of our app, which allowed you to bookmark (or “watch") a particular game and get updates as we post stories, the game goes on sale, or in the case of upcoming games, is released. It’s a pretty killer feature, and really provides some unique functionality which surprisingly enough, even the App Store is missing. The bad news is, we’re still working super hard on getting the watch list back online. Getting this site to this point has been a massive undertaking, and we’ve still got a few components that we’re actively working on- with the watch list being the biggest one. The good news is that if you were a huge watch list user with ton

‘Fortnite’ 4.3 Finally Adds Voice Chat on iOS With a Rideable Shopping Cart and Mushrooms

Gambar
Fortnite (Free) 4.3 downtime is now live but you can download the small update for patch on the App Store right now. While the last big patch that added HUD Customization , this one adds Voice Chat support. I hope you’re as excited as me to yell into the phone while travelling in real life while playing Fortnite . Downtime usually lasts an hour or so before the servers go back up for you to login. The other focus of the update in terms of gameplay is the addition of Shopping Carts that are rideable. You can even push someone else in a shopping cart like you would in a real life grocery store if this was a TV show. Apples were added as foraged items to give you a health boost and now Mushrooms are also available. Sadly these don’t do anything like they would in a Super Mario game but they do give you 5 shield that stacks up to 100. Mushrooms are found in swampy areas or shady wooded areas. If you enjoy completing goals to progress your level, there are now UI elements that let y

Cool Augmented Reality Shooter ‘Defend It!’ Now Available in the App Store

Gambar
A little over a month ago we checked out the trailer for a pretty cool looking upcoming augmented reality game called Defend It! (Free) from Wizards Games, and now that game has officially launched in the App Store. To back up a bit, this past January Apple updated their ARKit technology to allow for your iOS device to recognize flat vertical surfaces in addition to recognizing flat horizontal surfaces. Wizard Games saw this and instantly thought how cool it would be if you could create a game that was literally bursting through the walls in augmented reality. The concept they came up with is a shooter where you’re defending a crystal from an army of enemies who come from within the walls to attack said crystal. It’s a simple premise, and a pretty simple game, but executed quite well. Wow, I did NOT realize that the inside of my walls were so cavernous and dirty! We have yet to see very many games where the use of augmented reality has been critical to the functionality of a game

‘Marvel Contest of Champions’ Wraps Up its Month of ‘Infinity War’ Content with the Arrival of Infinity War Iron Man

Gambar
This month has seen movie theaters dominated by Marvel Madness thanks to the long-awaited arrival of Avengers: Infinity War . All of the various Marvel games on the App Store (and gosh, there are a lot) got in on the event as best as they could. For Kabam’s popular collect ‘n battle brawler Marvel Contest of Champions (Free) , that has translated to a full month of special quests, events, and of course, new characters. As the sun begins to set on this major milestone, the last of the new characters has been added to the game for players to try and add to their teams. The event kicked off with the addition of a couple of members of the Black Order, the cream of the crop of Thanos’s army. Proxima Midnight and Corvus Glaive, who could both be seen in the Infinity War film, served as heralds of sorts for the events to come. Though neither of them had especially big parts in the movie, they’re both big fan favorites in the comic books, so it was great to have them join the roster. To bala

‘Arena of Valor’ News: Delays, Drop-Outs and Diaochan

Gambar
Arena of Valor fans had a tumultuous week for reasons we’ll detail further into this week’s segment. With so much set to happen that ultimately didn’t, we’ve all been feeling a little lost. It’s like nothing could go right for the game whether you were playing casually, watching the professional eSports scene, or doing your homework to get a leg up in competitive play. Let’s take a look at everything that’s happened over the last week, and grieve over the numerous losses. May version update delayed The biggest disappointment came in the form of a delay. The massive May Version Update – set to bring Batman to the states, Death Match to the world, and a host of design changes – was shot down well beyond the last minute. Scheduled to go live yesterday, Thursday, May 24, the May update was delayed; not before it’s scheduled release date, but during. EU players flooded the game’s subreddit in the early morning, far before the other side of the world were due to wake up, asking why nothi

Best iPhone Game Updates: ‘Noblemen 1896’, ‘Arena of Valor’, ‘Choice of Games’, ‘Plague Inc’, and More

Gambar
Hello everyone, and welcome to the week, and the new TouchArcade! It’s time once again for our look back at the noteworthy updates of the last seven days. Things are still a little on fire, and while I won’t bore you with the details, it’s going to be a bit tougher for me to gather up the updates until I can get things organized again. Worry not, though! I found some nice updates for you to check out anyway. Of course, you can keep an eye out for updates yourself using AppShopper or by participating in the TouchArcade forums. This weekly summary is just here to fill you in on the things you might have missed. Let’s dig in! Galaxy on Fire 3 , Free Galaxy on Fire 3’s switch to a free-to-play model didn’t sit well with most fans, and it stung even more when a specially-tuned version of the game appeared as a regular premium title elsewhere. I don’t blame anyone if they feel like it’s too little, too late, but you now have the option to get that premium experience with a single IAP.

New Tribe Brings Unicorns and Rainbows to 'The Battle of Polytopia'

Gambar
Developer Midjiwan's turn-based strategy game The Battle of Polytopia [ Free ] has earned cult-like status in the world of mobile gamers. Originally launched in early 2016 under the name Super Tribes , The Battle of Polytopia offered a brilliant touchscreen interface and compelling strategy gameplay that we loved in our review . That early version of the game was pretty limited in scope, but Midjiwan continued to update the game with additional tribes as DLC which was constantly keeping the game fresh for players. The ultimate goal was achieved just this past February when the long-requested feature of cross-platform online multiplayer was added to the game . Now the developers are getting back to their tribe-adding ways and have just added possibly the weirdest new tribe to The Battle of Polytopia to date. Say hello to the ∑∫ỹriȱŋ tribe. Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Yes, ∑∫ỹriȱŋ is the name of the new tribe, and I'm not entirely confident that all those c

'Pocket Run Pool' Review - Help Me, I Can't Stop Playing

Gambar
Pocket Run Pool [ Free ], the latest from Zach Gage with Denver Coulson, was a tough game to review. Not because it's bad, but because I would pick it up to check out some particular element of the game, and get sucked into playing it for a long amount of time. That's the sign of a brilliant game. This is another winner from Zach Gage, and another ingenious twist on a familiar concept. Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Pocket Run Pool is, at its heart, a game of billiards. But it tweaks the pool concept just enough to feel familiar, yet with its own strategies. You have 10 balls on the table, ranging from two to 13 point values, and each pocket has a rotating multiplier: 1x/2x/4x/6x/8x/10x. So, getting the seven ball in the 8x multiplier gets you 56 points. Every ball that goes in a hole causes the multipliers to rotate clockwise, so if you want to chain together x10 scores, you'll need to make sure your previous shot leaves you in a good position, or be wil

Today is Lucky Penny Day a day celebrating the belief I had as a kid in that if you found a penny on the ground it was undeniably lucky. I'm not really sure if that ever panned out for me in any meaningful way, but, hey, it's still fun. We are lucky (eh? eh?) that this week has so many amazing iOS games hitting the App Store. I'm most excited for Pocket Run Pool , but there's loads of gems in this list. 'Super Hexagon' and 'VVVVVV' Developer's Next Game is 'Dicey Dungeons' and It's Heading to Mobile

Gambar
If you're developer Terry Cavanagh and you basically kickstarted the twitch games craze with the all-time classic Super Hexagon [ $2.99 ], and explored the gravity-flipping platforming genre to its absolute fullest with the brilliant VVVVVV [ $2.99 ], you could probably just hang up your hat and coast on those successes until the end of time. But if you follow along with Cavanag online, you know he likes to tinker around with new gaming ideas all the time, but those don't always end up becoming full, playable games. So when something he's tinkering around with DOES become a full game, you can be pretty sure that means it's going to be a good one. Such is the case with Dicey Dungeons , a game that spawned from this year's 7DRL Challenge , a game jam where you have a week to create a brand new roguelike game from scratch. Cavanagh released a playable but not quite finished build of Dicey Dungeons after the challenge ended, and since then has been working on polish

'Deploy and Destroy' is a First-Person Shooter Featuring Ash from 'Evil Dead' and Other Guest Stars, Out Now on iOS and Android

Gambar
Entertainment juggernaut Lionsgate is partnering up with developer and publisher Apps Ministry to do something pretty interesting in the increasingly competitive mobile first-person shooter space. Today they've officially launched Deploy and Destroy [ Free ] on both iOS and Android , and not only does this new brand feature its own lore, characters, and universe but they're blending in some popular Lionsgate IPs to create sort of a crazy crossover experience. All you really need to know about this is you can play as Ash from the Evil Dead series in a first-person shooter. Hail to the king, baby. And, if you're a fan of the Ash vs Evil Dead series that just ended last month, you can also play as Kelly or Pablo in addition to Ash. But let's be real. You're going to play as Ash. Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel Ash vs Evil Dead isn't the only Lionsgate property to feature in Deploy and Destroy , as you can also play as Tris, Eric, Edward, or Max

'Smoosh LAB' Will Bring Colorful Puzzle Creation to Mobile on May 28th

Gambar
Curious Labs is readying a follow-up to their popular 2015 puzzler Smoosh! [ Free ] called Smoosh LAB , and as you might have guessed based on the title this one is all about creating your own puzzles. The original Smoosh! was a block-sliding puzzler, or more accurately a Blop-sliding puzzler based on what Curious Labs calls the cute little colored spheres in its games, and it featured a mix of sliding those Blops as well as combining them to create different colors in order to house all the little Blops in their various goals. It featured nearly 200 levels in total, but Smoosh LAB wants to up that ante by allowing players to create and share their very own level creations using an in-game level editor. Subscribe to the TouchArcade YouTube channel As you can see in that trailer, level creation and Blop creation looks easy peasy with the touchscreen interface of our mobile devices. Smoosh LAB isn't too far off with a launch planned for this coming Monday, May 28th but if you

Grim Puzzler 'Death Coming' Now Available on Android

Gambar
Gone are the days of Android users being left out in the dust when it comes to some of the best mobile games. It used to be that Android gamers had to beg and plead for developers to consider bringing their popular iOS games over to the Green Side, but nowadays it's rare that a game isn't on both platforms. Many even launch first on Android due to its early access capabilities. In some cases though Android users have to wait just a bit longer to get their hands on a game that is available on iOS. The latest example? The awesome puzzler Death Coming [ $1.99 ] from NEXT Studios. After arriving to a positive reception on Steam last fall, Death Coming made its way to iOS in mid-March, with word that an Android version was also in the works. Well after that short delay, Death Coming is now available on Android via the Google Play Store , and there's even a shiny new trailer to boot. 'Animal Super Squad' Review - Control a Flying Chicken and Let Hilarity Ensue

Gambar
If you are in a lighthearted mood and want a game you can sit down to and enjoy while laughing out loud, then Animal Super Squad [ $4.99 ] is your game. You will probably be shaking in your seat from laughter every 10 seconds you play. The game is simply hilarious, but enjoyable at the same time. Animal Super Squad actually made its way from Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, and PC onto iOS and Android recently and it shows in the presentation. The game has very nice visuals and physics that are simply outstanding to take in. There literally seems like an endless amount of variation to falls, spins and jumps in the game as it feels like it was made to be a Nvidia PhysX technology showpiece. You can be flung in the air while doing flips only to become a hamburger in the end as you fall. This may occur after your chosen animal takes too much of a beating and the vehicle either crashed or you abandoned it. Yea, hilarity is part of the game’s appeal. You start out controlling a chicken i
