Apple’s 2022 iPhone Game of the Year ‘Apex Legends Mobile’ Shutting Down in May

Gambar
Well here is some news that I was not exactly prepared for. Respawn Entertainment has announced that they’ll be sunsetting Apex Legends Mobile on May 1st, just shy of a year from its official global launch. They cite the quality bar for content, as well as frequency of new content, being below what they consider acceptable. And so in mutual agreement with their development partner, presumably Tencent and their subsidiary studios, they have decided to wind the game down over the next 90 days with the game becoming fully unplayable at 4pm PDT on May 1st, 2023. As for what players can expect until then, as of right now the game is no longer available on the iOS or Android app stores and all in-app purchases have been disabled. Any virtual currency players already have can be spent up until the point of servers going offline on May 1st, however there will be no refunds offered. This is a pretty surprising development. Just two months ago Apple chose Apex Legends Mobile as their iPhon

SwitchArcade Round-Up: Reviews Featuring ‘Wonder Boy Anniversary Collection’, Plus the Latest Releases and Sales

Gambar
Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round for January 31st, 2023. In today’s article, we’ve got a few more reviews for you to enjoy looking through. Wonder Boy Anniversary Collection, Trek to Yomi , and Risen all get evaluated and scored in our usual manner. After that, we have one new release to check out. It’s a good one, though. Finally, it’s the usual lists of new sales and expiring discounts. Let’s get to the business! Reviews & Mini-Views Wonder Boy Anniversary Collection ($49.99) What a pickle this release is. Several months ago, I reviewed Wonder Boy Collection . It included four different Wonder Boy/Monster World games, with one version of each. In that review I mentioned the various other ways you may have already bought some of the included games, but recommended it based on whatever your particular circumstances were. At the time I noted that there was a more extensive physical collection on offer from Strictly Limited Games, but there was no dig

“The Clan of the Squirrel” DLC Now Available in Viking Strategy Game ‘Northgard’ on Mobile

Gambar
A couple of weeks ago the news dropped that Playdigious would be bringing a new DLC pack to Northgard on mobile, and today is that day. Originally developed by Shiro Games, Northgard is a strategy game with elements of Norse mythology where you play a clan of Vikings settling and expanding their territories. It has been a huge hit on PC and console, and back in 2021 Playdigious did a wonderful job of bringing the experience to mobile, where it felt especially well-suited. The mobile version has been playing catch-up a bit in terms of content compared to other platforms, and today’s Clan of the Squirrel DLC brings in a new playable clan that specializes in cooking, and the delectable items you create can go towards boosting your own clansmen or even manipulating your enemies to your own benefit. As already mentioned, Northgard is a really fantastic strategy game that works super well on mobile. The base game will set you back eight bucks as of this writing and has dozens of hours

Battle it Out with Your Friends in the Biggest ‘Marvel Snap’ Update Yet

Gambar
Look, I haven’t been hiding my enjoyment of Marvel Snap (Free) at all so far. It’s one of my favorite mobile games of the last few years, and every new card or feature added to the game just makes me appreciate it even more. It rides the line between fan service and clever gameplay just perfectly, and even if it never had any new major features added I would still be satisfied with it. But you know who isn’t satisfied with it yet? The developers at Second Dinner. They’ve got plenty of updates in the pipeline, and the one hitting today is probably the biggest we’ve seen so far. Are you ready for Battle Mode? The Battle Mode update, available today, adds a brand new mode to the game. Battle Mode allows you to finally go up against your buddies instead of just random opponents. Share your Battle Code with your friends and you’ll be able to throw your finest decks at them to see who’s really the best. While Battle Mode probably could have gotten away with just allowing single matches be

SwitchArcade Round-Up: Reviews Featuring ‘Fire Emblem Engage’, Plus the Latest Releases and Sales

Gambar
Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for January 30th, 2023. In today’s article, we start things off with a few reviews. Fire Emblem Engage takes center stage, with Demolish & Build Classic and Wonderland Nights serving as back-up dancers. There are a handful of new releases to check out including Trek to Yomi and Super Benbo Quest , and the usual lists of new sales and expiring discounts to sort through. Let’s get to work, shall we? Reviews & Mini-Views Fire Emblem Engage ($59.99) I’m of two minds on Fire Emblem Engage . At the end of the day, this series is about the turn-based tactical battles. They’re better in this game than they have been since, I would say, Fire Emblem Fates: Conquest . The new Emblem mechanic is a real game changer, and I’m thrilled to see the return of the weapon triangle. Map designs are solid, and the enemy placements are better at putting pressure on you to go on the offense than most of the recent entries. If I wer

Superbrothers Interview Part 1 – ‘JETT: Given Time’ and the Future

Gambar
Today, Superbrothers and Pine Scented software have launched JETT: The Far Shore + Given Time on Steam . We’ve been covering games by Superbrothers for a very long time all the way back to 2010 when Sword and Sworcery was shown at GDC. Superbrothers’ first new game since Sword and Sworcery was JETT: The Far Shore . JETT debuted on PlayStation and PC in 2021, and it has arrived on Steam today with a brand new free expansion. In the lead up to JETT’s new expansion and it hitting Steam, I chatted with Craig D. Adams (founder Superbrothers A/V and co-creator of JETT with Patrick at Pine Scented) and Dan Berry (Given Time contributor and UK comics person and broadcaster ) in a slightly different format. Since the team was still hard at work on JETT for Steam and the expansion, I sent over questions about a week before launch and got sent back a video of Dan discussing the questions with Craig. It almost felt like an interview in itself with Dan interviewing Craig. I’ve split that u

Let’s go for it! HOOK 2 , $1.99 Sure, let’s start off with a nice little paid puzzle game. HOOK 2 . It’s a game that I like. Maybe you will like it too. It’s only a couple of dollars, which is a very reasonable price. And its latest free update adds six new levels to play, making that price even more reasonable. There are also some bug fixes, which gets us off on the right foot with this article. Let us now move on. Dan The Man , Free Some games are heading right t
