TouchArcade Game of the Week: ‘Cypher 007’

Gambar
This doesn’t happen too often, but occasionally there will be an Apple Arcade game that I adore so much I just have to pick it as the Game of the Week. Well, here we are, and Cypher 007 is one of those games. The big key point here is that Cypher 007 is co-developed by Tilting Point and Pixelbite, the latter studio being the creators of the Space Marshals series. Fun fact: The Space Marshals games are my absolute favorite mobile original titles of all time (even though they are now on other platforms they were mobile’s first gosh darn it). The ability to apply their expertise from that series with an official James Bond license has resulted in a truly excellent little game so far in Cypher 007 . So, is this just Space Marshals with a James Bond skin? Kind of? I don’t want to do the game a disservice by implying that it’s some sort of reskin or something, because this appears to be the most high quality output from Pixelbite so far, but it’s a top-down action game with a heavy emp

SwitchArcade Round-Up: ‘EA Sports FC 24’, ‘Fate/Samurai Remnant’, Plus Today’s Other Releases, News, and Sales

Gambar
Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for September 29th, 2023. In today’s article, we’ve got a ton of news to go over. Just a lot going on today, I suppose. After that, there are quite a few new releases to look at including EA Sports FC 24 and Fate/Samurai Remnant . After that, it’s time for some sales. We’ve got the list of the new ones, we’ve got the list of the expiring ones. You can look at one or both or neither. Such is the burden of choice. Let’s get to it! News ‘Kirby & the Amazing Mirror’ is Now Available on Nintendo Switch Online Those who have a subscription to the Nintendo Switch Online Expansion Pack can now update their Game Boy Advance app and get access to Kirby & the Amazing Mirror . Originally released back in 2004, this adventure sends up to four players on a non-linear quest through an open-ish world of sorts. You can play alone, or use the online feature of the Game Boy Advance app to team up with friends. I’ve never been th

‘Storyteller’ Mobile Review – Perfect for Netflix Games

Gambar
I first played Daniel Benmergui’s Storyteller (Free) through its Nintendo Switch and Steam releases. Read my original review of it here . Since then, a lot of friends who played the game enjoyed it, but thought it was overpriced given the short runtime. On Netflix, you don’t need to worry about that, but does Storyteller warrant a replay or is it worth revisiting with its first major update since launch? I think it is, and I’ve had a lot of fun revisiting it on iPhone and iPad over the last few days. If you’ve never played Storyteller , I’ll also compare the different versions to help you find which one you should get. In the case of a lot of mobile ports, I’m curious to see how console and PC games transition over with their controls, but Storyteller is a puzzle game about putting together stories with already amazing touch controls on Switch.that already had great touch controls in its original Switch version. I knew it would feel good to play on mobile, but the Netflix releas

An Interview with the Legendary Yu Suzuki on Bringing ‘Air Twister’ to Consoles, Inspirations, and More

Gambar
One of the cool things about my job is that every once in a while, I get to talk to the people behind the games. It’s always a pleasure. Well, today we have a really special one for you, dear friends. Mr. Yu Suzuki of Ys Net, the force behind such games as Space Harrier, Out Run, After Burner, Virtua Racing, Shenmue, Virtua Fighter ,  and countless other titles, agreed to answer some burning questions we had about his most recent game, Air Twister () . It released on Apple Arcade a while back and will be making its way to consoles on November 10th of this year via publisher ININ Games. Before we go into the interview, I want to thank Mr. Suzuki for taking the time to answer these questions. I also want to thank ININ Games and Hound PR for facilitating this tremendous opportunity. Now, on with the show. TouchArcade (TA):  Hello Mr. Suzuki, thank you for your time. We usually start all our interviews with this question. What are your favorite pizza toppings? Yu Suzuki (YS):  Tomatoe

New ‘Marvel Snap’ Update Has Balance Adjustments for Galactus, Kitty Pryde, and More

Gambar
As we wait for the information on the new season to drop, we shall have to content ourselves with looking at the latest update to Marvel Snap (Free) . It’s just a balance update, but it makes some very big changes that combined with the arrival of some new cards completely up ends the meta we saw in recent weeks. Some folks are definitely going to have to rebuild their decks after all of this. Is that a good thing? I don’t know, but it is what it is. Let’s check out all the changes. Just for fun, I’m going to start with the buffs. Squirrel Girl isn’t the least useful 1-Cost card by any means, but she has become very situational over time since she fills out a lot of spots with only a little power. Second Dinner has decided to give her a little boost to see if she gets more play out of it. Squirrel Girl goes from 1-Cost 1-Power to 1-Cost 2-Power, but her Squirrels remain 1-Cost 1-Power. Will that make a difference? I’m skeptical, but we’ll see. Psylocke is the other major buff recip

‘The Elder Scrolls: Castles’ Is Available in Early Access on Android, Looks Similar to ‘Fallout Shelter’

Gambar
Back when Fallout Shelter (Free) released on mobile, and eventually hit consoles and PC, I didn’t think it would lead to something similar for The Elder Scrolls , but here we are. The Elder Scrolls: Castles is a new simulation game from Bethesda Game Studios that has just hit Android early access as revealed on its Google Play page. This game is yet to be officially announced, but could be the title Todd Howard was talking about back in November ( Via IGN and Lex Fridman’s podcast ). The Elder Scrolls: Castles has you controlling your castle and dynasty, oversee your subjects, grow, get more rulers, and more. The gameplay screenshot on the Google Play page below does remind me of Fallout Shelter . This game is unrelated to The Elder Scrolls Blades it seems. As of this writing, an official announcement or iOS version are yet to be revealed. Maybe it will also come to iOS when it is ready for its full launch, or release sooner as a soft launch. Until then, you can try out Bethes

SwitchArcade Round-Up: ‘Gothic Classic’, ‘Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest’, Plus Today’s Other Releases and Sales

Gambar
Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for September 28th, 2023. It’s Thursday, and that means we have an absolute ton of new releases to look at. The bulk of today’s article is dedicated to that work, with the usual lists of new and expiring sales afterwards to cap things off. We’ve got a lot to check out, so let’s commence with that checking! Out! New Releases Infinity Strash: Dragon Quest The Adventure of Dai ($59.99) Based on the relatively popular manga and anime that saw a recent revival, this is an action-RPG that puts you in the shoes of Dai and his friends as you play through the events of the show. I was hoping this would turn out to be a fun, light RPG to help us pass the time until Dragon Quest 12 finally pokes its head up. Sadly, early reviews aren’t painting a pretty picture. I haven’t had a chance to play it myself so I haven’t quite written it off yet, but this might be one of those cases where you have to be big fan of the brand to get much
