Live From Twitter Jail! – The TouchArcade Show #424

Gambar
Since this was a shorter week due to the Thanksgiving holiday we recorded on Wednesday afternoon, which meant we had about half as much stuff to talk about as we usually do… So we talk about my time in Twitter Jail, hot takes on the Tesla Cybertruck, and other things going on in modern internet pop culture along with all the cool news stories of the week (or the week so far at the time of recording)! Don’t forget to shoot us emails with any questions, feedback, or anything else relevant or irrelevant to podcast@toucharcade.com . We read ’em all, and love decoding messages written entirely in emoji. As always, you can listen to us with the links below… And if you like what you hear, please subscribe and/or drop us a review in iTunes. Much appreciated! As a companion to this audio podcast, we also do a video version of the same show that is exclusive to Patreon which allows you to see us playing the games we’re talking about. TouchArcade Game of the Week: ‘Figment: Journey Into the Mind’

Gambar
The idea behind the TouchArcade Game of the Week is that every Friday afternoon we post the one game that came out this week that we think is worth giving a special nod to. Now, before anyone goes over-thinking this, it doesn’t necessarily mean our Game of the Week pick is the highest scoring game in a review, the game with the best graphics, or really any other quantifiable “best" thing. Instead, it’s more just us picking out the single game out of the week’s releases that we think is the most noteworthy, surprising, interesting, or really any other hard to describe quality that makes it worth having if you were just going to pick up one . These picks might be controversial, and that’s OK. If you disagree with what we’ve chosen, let’s try to use the comments of these articles to have conversations about what game is your game of the week and why . Without further ado…   Figment: Journey Into the Mind One of my favorite genres is “Popular PC games that I always heard were a

SwitchArcade Round-Up: ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’, ‘Where the Water Tastes Like Wine’, and Today’s Other New Releases, the Latest Sales, and More

Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for November 29th, 2019. In today’s article, we’re pretty much sliding on in to the latest releases, checking out a few more sales, and then heading home. What can I say? It’s a holiday. That said, the number of new releases wasn’t small at all, so you may want to prepare a tiny beverage to get you through all the words, words, words. Let’s get sweaty! New Releases Five Nights at Freddy’s 1 – 4 ($7.99 Each) SwitchArcade Highlight! The first four numbered games in Scott Cawthorn’s mega-popular horror series are now available on the Switch. While the gameplay differs slightly from game to game, they all involve trying to stay alive while malfunctioning animatronic animals try to kill you. The gameplay is simple, but all of the games are good at building tension and playing on your paranoia. Many find the story of the games to be the most interesting parts of them, with lots of subtle world building happening in the marg

Surreal Action Puzzler ‘Figment: Journey Into the Mind’ is Now Available for iOS

Gambar
Having received numerous accolades for its Steam and console versions, Bedtime Digital has now brought Figment: Journey Into the Mind (Free) to iOS. Based in a beautifully hand drawn, dream-like world that represents the human mind, Figment explores psychological themes with a mix of puzzle and action gameplay. You’ll find yourself placed in the role of Dusty, the mind’s former voice of courage. After a long period of peace and idle tranquillity, the mind has suddenly started having unsettling thoughts which manifest themselves as nightmarish monsters. With the peace and calm you once enjoyed now broken, you must guide Dusty through the mind to try and overcome the fearful thoughts that now blight your surroundings. With the aid of your feathered companion Piper, you’ll explore two distinct regions representing the left and right side of the brain. The left side of the brain is known as Clockwork Town, and much like the name suggests, you’ll find yourself challenged by numerous

Black Friday 2019: Our Top Five Amazon Deals for iOS, Nintendo Switch, and More

Gambar
Ahead of Thanksgiving, almost every online retailer has loads of games, hardware, and more discounted for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. While there are loads of games discounted on the App Store already (link to post), iOS 13 has allowed for some already great games on iOS to be much better. If you’ve been reading TouchArcade in recent years, you know how much we also love the Nintendo Switch . The set of deals below covers iOS, Nintendo Switch, and has a special extra. 1. DualShock 4 Controller (Crystal) – $38.99 This is probably the most popular controller in general with native support on PS4 (obviously), Steam, and now iOS 13. While I’d still recommend getting the Xbox One controller, getting a DualShock 4 hasn’t been cheaper. A few of the colour options are available at this price. 2. Xbox One Wireless Controller – $39.00 This is the best overall controller for mobile if you play on PC as well as iOS. Most PC games have native Xbox One button support and this works great wi

Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for November 28th, 2019. It is Thanksgiving! In America! But I am a Canadian who lives in Japan, so here I am. I am using it as an excuse to give you a somewhat truncated SwitchArcade experience today. We’re going straight to the new releases, and after that? I certainly didn’t write out 600 sales, but I think you’ll be happy with the substitute. Let’s slide on in! New Releases Electronic Super Joy ($15.00) SwitchArcade Highlight! This is an ultra-tough platformer in the vein of games like Super Meat Boy and N+ . It is a very good game, and this particular version includes all of the extra content that you had to pay more for on PC. Granted, the price is about the same as buying all of that stuff together, but that’s fine. Good tunes, nice visual style, and more than 80 levels of split-second platforming entertainment. If you like this kind of thing, you’ll really like Electronic Super Joy . Trover Saves the Univers

Each and every day new mobile games are hitting the App Store, and so each week we put together a big old list of all the best new releases of the past seven days. Back in the day the App Store would showcase the same games for a week, and then refresh those features each Thursday. Because of that developers got into the habit of releasing their games throughout Wednesday or very early Thursday in order to hopefully get one of those coveted features spots. Nowadays the App Store refreshes constantly, so the need for everyone to release all on the same day has diminished. Still, we’ve kept our weekly Wednesday night format as for years that’s the time people knew to check TouchArcade for the list of new games. And so without further ado please check out the full list of this week’s new games below, and let us know in the comments section which games you’ll be picking up!   Alive 2 Survive ($2.99) iTunes Description The zombie apocalypse has begun!
