Huge “Hallowed Knights” Expansion for ‘Blackmoor 2’ Adds Six New Stages and New Character Jon Jacob

Gambar
Just about a year ago, developer Four Fats released the sequel to one of my all-time favorite games when they unleashed Blackmoor 2 (Free) on an unsuspecting world. It’s an action platformer with really fun combat mechanics, a campaign that continues the story from the first game, a full-blown dungeon editor where you can create and share your own dungeon designs, and super fun cooperative online multiplayer modes. And of course, being that this is a Four Fats game, there was a huge cast of colorful characters which are all not-so-subtle callbacks to various video game and pop culture characters. I was a massive fanboy of the original Blackmoor , and since the sequel seemed to be bigger and better in every way, I had no problem choosing it as the Game of the Week when it released. Then back in April, Four Fats released a huge update for Blackmoor 2 that built on the fact that it had such fun combat mechanics and a big roster of characters. It added a 1-on-1 versus mode called S

‘Old School RuneScape’ Mobile Celebrates First Anniversary and 8 Million Installs with Virtual In-Game Cake

Gambar
As someone who didn’t really follow the RuneScape scene, I really loved the idea of Old School RuneScape when I learned about it after it was announced as coming to mobile a couple of years ago. RuneScape proper is a desktop MMORPG that’s been running for almost two decades now, and in fact it is getting a fully-featured mobile port in the very near future. However, when people have played a game for that many years, it’s hard to get fully behind all the changes and advancements that come during its lifespan. Many players preferred the “old school" RuneScape experience that existed in the earlier years of the game’s life, and so in 2013 developer Jagex responded to those fans by releasing a game literally called Old School RuneScape . It released more or less as a version of RuneScape as it existed in 2007, and while it’s still received updates and new content over the years these are largely driven by player demand based on in-game polls. Old School RuneScape feels like th

SwitchArcade Round-Up: ‘Disgaea 4 Complete+’ and ‘Atelier Ryza’ Reviews, ‘Luigi’s Mansion 3’ and Today’s Other New Releases, the Latest Sales, and More

Gambar
Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for October 31st, 2019. It’s Halloween, so I am of course offering up two reviews of fluffy, silly RPGs. We’ve also got summaries of all of today’s many new releases, including the excellent Luigi’s Mansion 3 . Finally, we’ve got the usual list of sales information that is here to threaten your wallet and maybe your heart? Probably just the wallet, though. But enough talk, friends. Let’s have it! Reviews Disgaea 4 Complete+ ($49.99) I have to admit that I’m now a little bit puzzled as to NIS’s strategy with releasing Disgaea games on the Switch. I get that Disgaea 5 was kind of a Hail Mary to test the Switch market, and when that sold well beyond expectations, it made sense to head back to the first game and release Disgaea 1 Complete on the platform. So you would think the second game would be next. But no, we’re heading to the fourth game. Well, it doesn’t matter that much, I suppose. Disgaea 4 stands on its own

With the likes of Tesla vs. Lovecraft , JYDGE , Neon Chrome , and more on mobile thanks to 10tons, Undead Horde ($5.99) which isn’t a twin stick shoorter finally arrived on iOS a few days ago. It originally debuted on PC and consoles and was announced to release on mobile in Fall . After the iOS version pre-orders went live on the App Store, many Android owners were wondering when the action RPG that adds in a few other genres would release on Google Play. Undead Horde was our Game of the Week when it debuted on iOS and it will release on Google Play for Android as a premium release. When it launched on PC via Steam, it ended up becoming 10tons’ fastest selling release on the platform. It is also available on Switch and you can read Shaun’s thoughts on it here on our daily SwitchArcade feature. Check out footage from the iOS version below: As with most indie games that I missed on other systems, I look forward to giving Undead Horde is currently available for $5.99 on th

‘Zombie Blast Crew’ from Vivid Games Launches on iOS and Android for Halloween

Gambar
Polish developer Vivid Games has unleashed their latest mobile game on the App Store and Google Play , and it’s a very timely release with Halloween happening today. You see, their new game is called Zombie Blast Crew (Free) , and it’s all about, well, blasting zombies, an activity that seems all too appropriate for the occasion. Now, if you’re familiar with Vivid Games which, based on how many popular games they’ve released you probably are, then you might recall last year when they released a game called Space Pioneer on mobile. It’s a top-down shooter that has you eradicating all manner of aliens on a variety of planets, and it features one of the most satisfying loot/upgrade/progression systems I’ve come across in any game. It also received fantastic support post-launch with a full story-driven campaign being added, cooperative and competitive online multiplayer modes, and tons more. We loved Space Pioneer so much we picked it as our Game of the Week and awarded it 5 stars in o

Each and every day new mobile games are hitting the App Store, and so each week we put together a big old list of all the best new releases of the past seven days. Back in the day the App Store would showcase the same games for a week, and then refresh those features each Thursday. Because of that developers got into the habit of releasing their games throughout Wednesday or very early Thursday in order to hopefully get one of those coveted features spots. Nowadays the App Store refreshes constantly, so the need for everyone to release all on the same day has diminished. Still, we’ve kept our weekly Wednesday night format as for years that’s the time people knew to check TouchArcade for the list of new games. And so without further ado please check out the full list of this week’s new games below, and let us know in the comments section which games you’ll be picking up!   A Case of Distrust ($4.99) iTunes Description Explore underground speakeasies, smoke-filled billiard halls,

Apple Arcade: ‘Stela’ Review – A Beautiful, Scary Journey

Gambar
Have you heard people say that everything in Australia wants to kill you? Well, that’s the feeling you get when you play Stela () for the first time. Every living organism is out to get you and it feels great. No, seriously. Stela is a platforming game developed by SkyBox Labs set in a post-apocalyptic world. You’ll play as, you guessed it, Stela, a young woman who’s probably the last human on earth. At least she’s the only one we see. You’ll join her journey as she witnesses the last days of an ancient world. If you’ve played games like Limbo or Inside , then you know the drill with these types of games. You wake up in the middle of nowhere, with no clue of who you are or where you’re going. You only have to keep going right and see where the path takes you. All this while avoiding all kinds of monsters and creatures that are extremely deadly and violent. The best tip I can give you is to avoid everything that moves. It doesn’t matter if it’s bugs, bats, big tentacles, or Shadow

Fun Throwback Role-Playing Game ‘Vigil RPG’ Gets a Huge Update to Celebrate 5th Anniversary

Gambar
Quirky retro-styled RPGs abound on the App Store. Abound I tell you! Which is kind of funny because I always think of RPGs as these ginormous and complex affairs that must take teams of developers to create, but for some reason the throwback RPG seems to be the genre of choice for many solo indie developers on mobile. Go figure. Anyway, one of our favorite of these mobile throwback RPGs is Vigil RPG ($1.99) from developer Aggro Magnet Games aka solo indie developer Jonathan Schneider. Vigil released way back in November of 2014, very nearly 5 years ago now, and looked to marry elements of the classic Dragon Warrior (aka Dragon Quest ) with the clever battling system from Paper Mario on the Nintendo 64. Yes, kind of a strange mashup, but it worked, and while the appeal of such a game was certainly niche, that niche really enjoyed Vigil when it released, including our own Shaun Musgrave in his review . While there were a few minor updates to the game following its release, it hasn’

Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for October 30th, 2019. It’s the night before Halloween, and the scariest thing around here is how many reviews I need to get done.
