The Headphone Journey Continues – The TouchArcade Show #405

Gambar
On this week’s episode of The TouchArcade Show we follow up on the adventures in weird tiny electric vehicles, including scooters. The specific scooter we’re talking about, which is the consumer version of the same scooter that the rental companies use is the Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter . The internet seems to agree that this is the “best" one to start with. From there, we shift gears to talking about actual relevant mobile game stuff including a whole buttload of rad games that were recently released and are coming in the future. We dive into some Switch chat, specifically talking about Graveyard Keeper which is worth checking out if you liked Stardew Valley . Oh, and we don’t mention it on the podcast but this week’s GameClub game is Legendary Wars . You can download it for free via TestFlight right now by mashing this link . Don’t forget to shoot us emails with any questions, feedback, or anything else relevant or irrelevant to podcast@toucharcade.com . We read ’em all, and lo

TouchArcade Game of the Week: ‘Minit’

Gambar
The idea behind the TouchArcade Game of the Week is that every Friday afternoon we post the one game that came out this week that we think is worth giving a special nod to. Now, before anyone goes over-thinking this, it doesn’t necessarily mean our Game of the Week pick is the highest scoring game in a review, the game with the best graphics, or really any other quantifiable “best" thing. Instead, it’s more just us picking out the single game out of the week’s releases that we think is the most noteworthy, surprising, interesting, or really any other hard to describe quality that makes it worth having if you were just going to pick up one . These picks might be controversial, and that’s OK. If you disagree with what we’ve chosen, let’s try to use the comments of these articles to have conversations about what game is your game of the week and why . Without further ado…   Minit Published by Devolver Digital, Minit ($4.99) is the colaborative effort of developers Jan Willem

‘Harry Potter: Wizards Unite’ Fortress Guide – Everything You Need to Beat Wizarding Challenges

Gambar
It wouldn’t be a Niantic augmented reality game without some big buildings on the map that are essential to the ongoing experience. Where Pokemon GO has Gyms, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite (Free) has Fortresses, the biggest and hardest to miss structures around — and yes, sometimes they’re even in the exact same physical locations as Pokemon GO Gyms. That’s pretty much where the similarities end, because where Gyms are PvP hubs, Wizards Unite Fortresses are instead the locations where players can come together and work toward common goals. That’s because each Fortress allows access to Wizarding Challenges, where your spellcasting prowess is put to the test in much more direct ways than when you are trying to defeat most Confoundables. The game actually has a pretty good explanation of Fortresses and Wizarding Challenges right in the app, but that doesn’t mean we can’t expand upon it and go into even more detail for people who are just starting their journeys into Harry Potter: Wiz

‘BTS World’ Guide – How to Get More Gems, Wings and More

Gambar
Are you a member of the BTS ARMY? If so, there’s a good chance you already know all about BTS World (Free) , the mobile game from Netmarble that makes you, yes, you, the manager of the insanely popular seven-member Korean group. Played out as an ongoing narrative, the game sends you back in time to the far-flung past of 2012, when the group members first signed to Big Hit Entertainment, and gives you the task of not messing things up so that they come together to form BTS. While much of BTS World involves simply enjoying the story, which plays out as written and voiced dialogue, as well as in-game text messages, phone calls, and media posts, there are indeed some simple but actual game mechanics in the mix as well, as you need to collect cards of all seven members and pick the right ones to pass Mission Stages based on four stats: Empathy, Passion, Stamina and Wisdom. In-between challenges, you can also assign the members to tasks at the Agency, which can level up those stats for th

Let’s all go to the lobby! News ‘Mighty Switch Force! Collection’ Switches on Switch on July 25th WayForward’s Mighty Switch Force! series got its start on Nintendo hardware, but soon ended up on a variety of platforms. The core idea behind most of the games involves switching background and foreground objects to make a path forward. They’re fun action games with a satisfying puzzle element. And they’re now coming, some would say as fated, to the Switch via the Mighty Switch Force! Collec

‘Tetris Royale’ is 100 Player ‘Tetris’ and it’s Coming to iOS and Android

Gambar
N3twork, the company formed several years ago by the founders of the iconic mobile games company ngmoco, have just announced a multi-year partnership with The Tetris Company to “exclusively develop and publish new Tetris games built from the ground up for mobile devices worldwide." Worldwide, except for China, that is. The first of these games will be Tetris Royale , a 100-player battle royale version of the classic block-dropping game where players will battle for leaderboard supremacy across various seasons. In addition, “Players will have the ability to complete daily challenges while competing in the Tetris Royale mode to earn rewards including customization options as well as power-ups and boosters that can be used in battle." It sure sounds an awful lot like Tetris 99 on the Nintendo Switch, which is an absolute blast, so I wouldn’t mind at all having something similar to play on my mobile devices. And in addition to the 100-player battle royale mode, Tetris Royal

‘Game of Thrones Beyond the Wall’ Announced for September Release on iOS and Android from Behaviour Interactive, GAEA, and HBO

Gambar
With the final season of Game of Thrones finally done back in May, I expected a few licensed properties to release for the show. What I did not expect is multiple games and media projects based on Game of Thrones when I feel like all of this should have happened a while ago. The most surprising of the lot isn’t directly related to Game of Thrones and it is Elden Ring from George R R Martin and FromSoftware. Game of Thrones Beyond the Wall is a new collectible strategy RPG from Behaviour Interactive, HBO, and GAEA. Watch the trailer for it below: Game of Thrones Beyond the Wall has an original story and it features characters from the show like Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen. It is set 48 years before the events showcased in the TV show and has you recruiting for the Watch to build your ultimate team. Game of Thrones Beyond the Wall has PvP combat as well and features grid based tactics. It will have in app purchases as you’d expect for most licensed games at this point. Chec

Inaugural ‘Harry Potter: Wizards Unite’ Fan Festival Coming to Indianapolis Labor Day Weekend

Gambar
Once upon a time, back in the days of yore circa summer 2017, the first ever  Pokémon Go Fest took place in Chicago. It did not go well . Fortunately, Niantic has learned a lot more about what it takes to put on big events for its popular augmented reality game, as the second Fest was lauded as a huge improvement . That augurs well for the company’s newest AR kid on the block, as plans for the inaugural Harry Potter: Wizards Unite (Free) Fan Festival were revealed on Thursday. Set for Labor Day Weekend, the Fan Festival is coming together courtesy of Niantic, WB Games and the City of Indianapolis, and will take place in Indy’s White River State Park. Initial details about what exactly will take place at the event are a little scarce at the moment — not really a surprise considering the game has only been out for about a week in the US and UK, and even less than that elsewhere — but the initial press release teased that players will “engage in a variety of interactive experiences

‘Flappy Royale’ is a 100-Person ‘Flappy Bird’ Battle Royale that’s in Open Beta Right Now

Gambar
This is hard for me to believe but it’s been five and a half years since the whole Flappy Bird phenomenon took the world by storm. Dong Nguyen’s viral sensation left a permanent mark on the world of gaming, whether people liked it or not. In the wake of Flappy Bird’s success came a flood of clones and copycats trying to ride the original’s coattails to riches, but alongside that also came a lot of developers playing around with the flappy formula in earnest. Remember the Flappy Jam ? That brought us a ton of great titles. Or things like Flappy Golf or the more recent Flappy Fighter which seem to be poking fun at Flappy Bird on the surface but actually contain totally solid and entertaining gaming foundations below. While the world of Flappy -inspired games has slowed down in recent times, there’s apparently still some gas left in that tank when it comes to flapping, and Flappy Royale is the latest example of that. Yes, Flappy Royale is exactly what you’re probably thinking it i

SwitchArcade Round-Up: ‘Irony Curtain’, ‘Dandy Dungeon’, ‘SEGA AGES Virtua Racing’, ‘Graveyard Keeper’, and Tons of Other New Releases

Gambar
Hello gentle readers, and welcome to the SwitchArcade Round-Up for June 27th, 2019. Friends, there were so many new releases today that I really couldn’t do anything else today aside from the new game summaries and the daily sales information. But hey, if you’re here to read, I can promise that you’re not going away unsatisfied. With a pile plenty big to dig into, we’d best get on our way. Let’s go! New Releases Irony Curtain: From Matryoshka with Love ($19.99) SwitchArcade Highlight! This is a really great point-and-click-style adventure game from Artifex Mundi. It’s quite different from the company’s usual output, playing a lot more like a Lucasarts-style adventure game than the hidden object games we typically see from it. You play as a low-on-the-rung journalist in the fictional totalitarian country of Matryoshka who unwittingly gets caught up in a pitched battle between two vying powers. Yeah, it’s one of those fish-out-of-water things where the ordinary person gets pulled in
